Yapp Charitable Trust
We make grants for running costs and salaries to small registered charities in England and Wales to help sustain their existing work. We will not fund work that does not focus specifically on one of our priority groups. Applicants that reflect our grant making policy have the best chance of success. We offer grants only to registered charities with a total annual expenditure of less than £40,000.

We have been funded several times over the past few years by Yapp Charitable Trust and are currently awaiting payment of our latest grant. Yapp are extremely easy to deal with and respond to all enquiries or requests promptly so if you are unsure of anything it's worth asking!

The application process was clear, the response time good and as we come to the end of 3 year funding, the communication has always been good.
If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Being in receipt of a grant over 3 years, it would be good to have one telephone conversation in year 3 to look at the impact of the grant received and what the charity would benefit from going forward.

Colleagues should know that the Yapp Foundation Team are very approachable and keen to help the smaller struggling charities, they understand that circumstances for smaller charities are considerably different from the larger charities; smaller charities can't afford staff and often operate from run down buildings but still achieve tremendous results. I was please when one of their team came to visit our centre to see the activities and services we provide, this gives a more accurate picture of the work and results achieved.
The process is very straight forward and the secretary is always at hand to help anyone who needs to ask questions.

It was very easy to get in touch with the grant maker. I never had any difficulties following the guidelines, they were very easy to understand. Any options I was unsure of I received excellent advice from the secretary who is so so helpful.
How successfully do you think this funder is accomplishing its goals as a funder?

I appreciated a visit from one of their team, I never over-rate our charity; it gave them a better insight to our charity which resulted in a decision to award £3000 for three years as opposed to the £1000 for three years that we applied for.

If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Keep up the good work, smaller charities appreciate your understanding of our needs.
Is there anything else that's be useful for others to know to understand this funder?
The only thing I keep mentioning is the fact that the Yapp Foundation have a great understanding of how smaller charities experience more challenges than the larger charities and their funding does give comfort by provide opportunities for the grassroots organisations.
