We are a small independent grant-making trust that operates across the United Kingdom. We run two grant rounds each year through our open grants programme. We focus on young people and are currently funding work in the criminal justice sector that helps to reduce reoffending rates and first offences for those at risk of offending.

We didn't know about providing a business plan as this wasn't made clear earlier or on the website. However, when we contacted the funder directly, we very quickly received a helpful reply. We also were not expected to create a business plan just for the sake of the application, but to send working documents that we had already which would be useful.

It is a long application, but the sums are substantial so it is a fair process. The questions are clear and don't overlap.

The application form was very straightforward and easy to complete. I was given the option to complete a Word document before submitting the application which is always helpful. The application form was not too long. Great online experience.

Read their website in full, to understand the kind of organisations they fund and the work they fund (especially their Theory of Change). You don't need to submit a budget at stage 1 but I would recommend drafting one in full at that stage of proposal development.
