We are a specialist grant-maker. We mainly support work to strengthen financial integrity in the UK and tackle the UK’s dirty money problem. We have a history of supporting high potential UK non-profits which make a difference in low income countries. We take an engaged approach, as a proactive funder.

This is a very flexible and imaginative funder, who invest in enterprising individuals and projects with a vision for change. There is a minimum of bureaucracy, and the questions we were asked helped us to formulate the proposals.

Flexibility in supporting progressive organisations to become sustainable
If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Have a password protected web or other social media space for the Trust to be able to network its recipients, so that the overall programme adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Sharing its ideas about plans for the future. Could be an online newsletter, or other low maintenance solution.

The process is very straightforward and the trust is very easy to engage with. The questions are open enough to be able to answers as you wold like but the application form is short enough that you don't spend hours and hours trying to mould you project into complicated formats.

Great that there was a two stage process with an initial e mail, then a phone call and finally the application process. also very positive that the trust is willing to consider core funding for small NGOs, to help them become more sustainable and strategic, as that is exactly what we need ..
Inevitably then disappointing to be turned down, particularly as I thought we had addressed this point in the application, though I'm heartened that there is an opportunity to get more detailed feedback on this.

Very much so: they appreciate that stemming corruption and tax avoidance coud have an enormous impact on the developing world

They are brilliant at early seeding of radical ideas, that can then go on to receive funding elsewhere - and ulitimately (in our case) attract private sector support
