We are a specialist grant-maker. We mainly support work to strengthen financial integrity in the UK and tackle the UK’s dirty money problem. We have a history of supporting high potential UK non-profits which make a difference in low income countries. We take an engaged approach, as a proactive funder.

They were very approachable, with clear guidlines, and were prepared to discuss a proposal before we drafted it. They were very helpful throughout the process.

They have very clear goals, and also work with the NGOs in the field to help develop common objectives. Very few donors do this, and it makes their philanthropy more effective.

They have a very strong understanding of the field, and also of how NGOs work in the real world. This is invaluable.

Continue to engage other funders in this area, who are not quite so well connected to the sector

Funded for lesser amount - applied in 2019
Joffe Charitable Trust provided space for a very open and honest conversation about our plans and our organisation as a whole. So I would recommend having a good idea of what your priorities are as an organisation and being open to guidance and suggestions from the Trust on how to achieve them and how they can help.

It is invaluable for NGOs to get proper feedback on their work and an insight into the decision making process that trusts and foundations go through. Joffe Charitable Trust does this really well and other funders should try to do more of this.

They are actually willing to fund core costs and invest in building fundraising capacity of their grantees. Why isn't every funder doing this? It would save so many good causes from going under. Well done Joffe Trust!
