We are a specialist grant-maker. We mainly support work to strengthen financial integrity in the UK and tackle the UK’s dirty money problem. We have a history of supporting high potential UK non-profits which make a difference in low income countries. We take an engaged approach, as a proactive funder.

Very good experience and great engagement. I had others working with me in more direct contact than myself around the funding application so I was mostly one step removed. The process is strengthening the organisations overall focus and direction.

The key to the Joffe Trust process is communication. The relevant contacts are highly accessible and always open to discussion. It is important to really understand the philosophy and aims of the Trust to ensure that any project is a fit and that a proposal communicates that fit as accurately and completely as possible. The Joffe Trust is a unique donor in its desire to act as a 'kickstarter' for new organizations, its willingness to take risks and it's interest in supporting areas of policy that are often hard to fund. It also has an interest in taking facilitative role, beyond funding, if and where appropriate. It is important that this philosophy is respected and that applications are targeted to the type of work that can have greatest impact as a result.

Joffe is flexible and easy funder who go beyond the usual funding relationship. Alex is great at engaging on the substance and he feels like part of the team. In fact, being a Joffe grantee feels like being part of a family.
